Different Classroom Management Tips and Ideas

One of the most difficult things for me as a teacher is trying to figure out the best process to deal with classroom management.
This cartoon says exactly what I have heard from a variety of my peers.
We get a brief lesson on classroom management at different times but generally it is this mystery that you just kind of 'wing'.
We all assume that we will know how to handle our students because we have babysat or helped in another classroom, but when it is just you and 30 of them it takes on a whole new face.
These examples within are some things that I refer back to, when I need help.

These three external links are great helps for classroom management.
The first is from the National Educators Association. There are articles and forums for you to read and discuss with peers.
The second website is a great website in general for useful teacher links, but the classroom management page is where I have found most of the ideas I have used and I am always able to click on a link and find something new. As with everything there will be stuff you find useful and information you just push aside, but there is plenty of information to be had here at the teacher's guide.

This is a very interesting prezi as it is a kind of wiki. Anyone can click and add some idea to the classroom management prezi. This allows teachers to bring in new creative ideas to get attention and keep classroom management to a minimum.

What a wonderful presentation through slideshare. Some really interesting technological standpoints within classroom management. Another example in which you may not agree with everything and not everything will apply to your situation but there are many good nuggets of information within.

This very old video does not do everything perfectly, but I think there are some very good lessons in here. As a math teacher I have found myself saying some of the negative things he says here in this video and it is nice to see that and be able to recognize and change that behavior in myself.

PBIS is a program we have been using for five years at my school and this video gives a good example of what it is. PBIS has been great for our school because not only has it strengthened our individual ability to work with students in a positive manner but it is helping our teachers to all get on the same page so that our expectations are similar for our students.

A powerpoint from a classroom management training that gives some nice basic tips and ideas.

This presentation is a great example of some of the smaller parts of classroom management such as desk arrangement. It has taken me some time to get those little ideas down and I still move and mess with ideas regularly.
